Research published in the Journal of Applied Social Psychology suggests that people who wake up early are more likely to take action, in comparison to night owls. The study also pointed out that people who regularly wake up at the same time every day, weekdays and weekends alike, are more prone to be proactive.

But what to do when you’re just not a morning person? Well, you can start by setting a specific time for going to bed and waking up. Also, try to create a morning routine so your mornings won’t be too sluggish.

2. Prepare the night before.

Mornings can be crazy for a lot of us, there is so much to get done but so little time. If you’re not an early riser, the situation is even worse.

But it’s not hopeless yet, as you can just do a bit of extra planning the night before. Making your overnight oats ahead of time, or getting your meals prepped for days can minimize the stress of cooking in the early morning. Prepare your outfits beforehand, get your bag ready. This way, your mornings will be less stressful.

3. Eat a protein-rich breakfast.

“The first meal of the day is the most important one” is a saying that still holds true. Whether you’re a “breakfast person” or not, getting your nutrient fix after 7-8 hours of fasting is needed.

A protein packed breakfast will give you the energy you need to power through for the rest of the day. Try including these options for an easy, palatable breakfast: cottage cheese, almonds, eggs, protein shakes, and Greek yogurt.

4. Exercise near the beginning of the day.

Research published by the University of Bristol has shown that regular exercise during the workday results in improved moods and an increased ability to deal with the demands of work. Joe Coulson, one of the researchers behind the study, writes: “It’s generally well-known now that there are many physical and mental health benefits that can gain from regular exercise.

If people try to fit an active break into their working day, they might also experience the added bonus of their whole day feeling much more productive.”

Try working out at the beginning of the day to get the best out of your endorphin release to boost your mood, and improve your productivity .
