They say age is just a number, even though society still tends to criticize when a couple has a noticeable age gap. And in the case of Hollywood star Dennis Quaid and his wife Laura, the couple seems to be connected by an unbreakable bond, despite having 39 years between them. Proving that in order to build a healthy relationship, having common life values and principles can be more important than having the “right”’ age difference.

4th time’s a charm
Dennis Quaid is no stranger to marriage, in fact, The Parent Trap star walked down the aisle 3 times already before meeting Laura.
The actor’s first marriage was at 24 and it lasted for 5 years.
His second time is perhaps his most infamous relationship, given that it was with Hollywood actress Meg Ryan who is 8 years younger than him. They were married for a decade and have a son together.
In 2004, 3 years after his second divorce, the actor married a real estate agent and became a father for the second time when his twins were born in 2007. The couple finalized their divorce in 2018.
A year later, the then 64-year-old Quaid met Laura, a 25-year-old doctoral student in Economics, during a business event, and their love seemed to be written in the stars from the get-go.

It was love at first sight
The pair started dating in May 2019 and got engaged 5 months later. In June 2020, the private couple eloped to Santa Barbara to tie the knot with the pastor as their only guest attending the intimate ceremony. The actor said that he’s glad he got married quietly, explaining, “It was about us. It was beautiful.”
The beaming husband explained that he fell for Laura from the very first moment he laid eyes on her. And it seems that their shared faith has fueled the relationship and allowed it to blossom.
He noted, “We’re both Christians, and right from the start, God has always had a hand in the relationship.” He went on to add, “I think that’s where the real strength comes from.”
Love knows no age
Their almost 4-decade age gap doesn’t leave anyone indifferent and Dennis knows this all too well. But it seems that this difference doesn’t bother the lovebirds at all and that they ’’just don’t even notice it” since the topic ’’really just doesn’t come up.’’ Dennis explained, ’’There’s just something timeless about us. We’re partners in our relationship and in life.’’
After all, their romance was meant to be and it all happened organically. The actor said, “I didn’t go out looking for an age gap or someone really younger than me,” He added ’’You have no control over who you fall in love with. I don’t fall in love easily.’’

A match made in heaven
The lowkey couple prefers to keep their romance out of the spotlight as much as they can. But they can’t help but praise their partner when asked about what attracted them to one another. Laura revealed that she loves her husband’s wisdom, while Dennis admitted ’’I just love who she is as a person. Her character, her intelligence, of course, her beauty. And her point of view of the world.”
And even though he’s had several unsuccessful relationships, Dennis knows that he finally found his true another half. He insists, ’’This is the final one, I know it is. I feel like I have a real partner in life.”
He adds, “She’s the greatest person I’ve ever met. I love waking up and spending every day with her.”
And by the look of it, this relationship has all the strength, passion, and complicity for it succeeds and lasts forever.
